Below you will find the specifics you need to know about the different media on WhatsApp.

Regarding images and videos
There are no specific dimensions for images and videos, however we have some recommendations to make these media appear correctly in WhatsApp.
- 🏞️ For a visual that aims to present a product, prefer a portrait format (ideally portrait format: ratio 4:3 (1200x1600 px)). For a more “generic” visual, we would recommend a landscape format (ideally ratio 16:9 (1600x900 px)) or a square format. Small specificity concerning the Limited Time Offer: it is recommended to use a visual with dimensions 709x450 px.
- 🎥 For videos, it's the same, rather portrait format to present a product (like an Instagram story) and landscape format when it's more generic content (like a YouTube commercial).
Note: The preview image (the one users see before clicking play) is automatically generated from the very first second of the video. So make sure to display a logo, visual, or the product right at the beginning to capture attention immediately before playback.
There are also character limits in texts and buttons.
Texts are limited to 1024 characters (including spaces). Please note: emojis count as 2 characters.
The text of a button depends on the type of message:
- In a template: the button text is limited to 25 characters (including spaces)
- In an Answer message: the limit is 20 characters (including spaces)
🎡 Specifics regarding carousels
You can use the carousel template to showcase multiple products in a single message. Here's what you need to know about carousels on WhatsApp:
- A main text of max 1024 characters (including spaces - emojis count double)
- 10 cards max in the carousel
- Use landscape images of max 5MB (e.g. 2063x1080 px). Possibility to add videos (max 16MB). Each card must be identical, it will not be possible to have 1 video card and 1 image card in the same carousel.
- Possibility to put up to 2 buttons on the cards. Here too, each card must be identical, each card must have the same number of buttons. Possibility to put 2 quick reply buttons (response button), 2 URL buttons or 1 quick reply button + 1 URL button.
- One text per card of 160 characters max (including spaces - emojis count double)
- Button text must be 25 characters max (including spaces)
- The URL in a URL button must not exceed 2000 characters
